Biodiversity project Day 2

We spent yesterday morning traveling around Bulawayo getting all the necessary supplies for the Zoo’s photographer Michael to do different types of photography in the Matobo Hills. We were successful on all accounts.
Spent yesterday and last night with Dr. Wilson at his house in Bulawayo. While there a lady and her daughter dropped off a baby genet that they found on the ground in their garden. Being arboreal nesters it was very unusual this animal was on the ground. It is less than a week old as it’s eyes aren’t even open yet. See the photo of the baby in this post.
We went grocery shopping today and are sorting out our gear and supplies to head to the Matopos tomorrow morning. I’ve got the GPS collars programmed and ready to go as well as six camera traps. We plan on spending the next week in the Park working on many aspects of the Biodiversity project.
I’ll update whenever I get internet access.
Cheers
