
Zimbabwe has the world's highest rate of inflation: 7 892,1% in September 2007. Independent estimates put real inflation closer to 25 000%. On 16 November, the Zimbabwe Independent reported that annual inflation in October reached 14 850%.
In addition there are shortages of food, fuel, electricity and spare parts - mainly due to the shortage of foreign currency reserves. As at December one British Pound was equal to ten million ZImbabwe dollars.
